Biography
Matthew H. Haverstick focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense and internal corporate investigations, complex business torts, securities arbitrations, RICO claims, and construction defect cases. Matt is based in the firm’s Philadelphia and West Chester offices.
Representative Matters include the following:
- Represented state legislator in federal civil rights lawsuit.
- Represented newspaper reporter under investigation for wrongfully obtaining data from a law enforcement website.
- Represented hedge fund manager accused of insider trading.
- Represented factory owner in multimillion dollar trial for damage during construction of a factory's concrete floor.
- Represented bank involved in insider trading investigation.
- Conducted internal investigation at medical device company where accounting fraud was suspected.
- Represented medical malpractice insurer in RICO claim brought by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Insurance Department.
- Represented high-profile securities broker under investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for fraudulent conduct and ties to organized crime.
- Represented securities brokers in multiple NASD and NYSE securities arbitrations.
Matt began his career in New York City at Proskauer Rose LLP, where his practice focused on white collar criminal defense and internal investigations. He then joined the firm of Arkin Kaplan Rice LLC, concentrating on white collar and securities defense matters. Matt moved to Lancaster and, for the next 10 years, tried complex business tort cases in state and federal courts, in both bench and jury trials, with the firm of Barley Snyder LLC and then with Haverstick Meguerian LLC, a firm he co-founded. Matt was appointed special assistant district attorney for Lancaster County and successfully shut down a nuisance drug bar in a residential neighborhood.
