Jim McTigue focuses his practice on complex commercial matters, including patent and trademark disputes, contract claims, Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement actions, and charter school disputes.
Representative Matters include the following:
- Member of litigation team that achieved summary judgment in a class-action matter related to water company liability in commercial building fire.
- Actively assisted in negotiating settlement between small New Jersey winery and large corporate winery related to trademark infringement.
- Represented federal credit union in debt collection actions.
- Assisted in representation of leading medical device manufacturer related to patent dispute in federal district court in Pennsylvania.
- Assisted in representation of securities broker in SEC enforcement action.
- Represented large water filtration company in contract disputes with pharmaceutical company related to scope of work and project delays.
While studying law at Villanova University Law School, Jim served as Symposium Editor for the Villanova Environmental Law Journal and organized a symposium focused on the legal and economic implications of E.P.A. regulation of greenhouse gases. Jim also published an article for the Environmental Law Journal focused on E.P.A. environmental impact reviews. Jim served as a judicial intern for Judge John T. J. Kelly of the Pennsylvania Superior Court in 2005, and as a law student clerked for Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Sandra Schultz Newman in 2006.
