Biography

Nicholas Centrella is one of Philadelphia’s leading trial lawyers and the managing shareholder of the Firm. Nick’s white collar defense practice includes the defense of corporations and individuals in federal grand jury investigations and criminal proceedings. His civil practice focuses on the representation of Amlaw 100 and small to mid sized law firms in legal malpractice and other civil actions, and the defense of major corporations in complex commercial, regulatory, civil RICO, and products liability disputes. 

Representative Matters include the following:

  • Represents numerous companies and professionals in grand jury investigations.
  • Represented witnesses in political corruption investigations and prosecutions.
  • Represented broker in both criminal and S.E.C. proceedings alleging securities fraud.
  • Represented pharmacist in criminal prosecution of internet pharmacies.
  • Represented manufacturer in multiple suits against accountant, bank, and individuals to recover embezzled funds.
  • Represented former officer of Fortune 500 Company in False Claims Act case prosecuted by U.S. Attorney’s office and whistleblowers.
  • Obtained jury defense verdict in legal malpractice action on behalf of a Philadelphia-based international law firm.
  • Represented other prominent Philadelphia law firms in complex legal malpractice suits.
  • Represented numerous officers, directors and outside professionals of insurance companies in liability suits brought by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
  • Represented employee of pharmaceutical company regarding “off label” marketing of drugs.
  • Represented parties in numerous RICO actions.

Nick is a past President of the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel. He currently serves as a member of the Hearing Committee of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and on the Federal Criminal Law Committee for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Several years ago, he was recognized as one of the “50 on the Fast Track” by the Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly.
