Biography

During his 17-year career, Judson Aaron has been a federal prosecutor and civil trial lawyer. From 1995 through 2006, Jud served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in the Criminal Division and Organized Crime Strike Force. He conducted hundreds of grand jury investigations, brought a wide array of criminal prosecutions, and successfully tried numerous cases to verdict. In his civil litigation practice, he represents corporations and individuals in white collar defense matters, including federal grand jury investigations and federal and state court criminal proceedings. He also represents companies and firms in complex commercial litigation, including business torts and RICO actions.

Representative Matters

  • As co-counsel at trial, Jud was part of the Conrad O’Brien trial team that secured a jury defense verdict on behalf of a Philadelphia-based international law firm in a legal malpractice action.
  • Achieved dismissal on subject matter jurisdiction grounds of class action lawsuit in federal district court in Pennsylvania alleging breach of fiduciary duty against attorney.
  • As white-collar criminal defense practitioner, represents corporations and professionals, including attorneys, physicians, accountants, and business owners, in grand jury investigations and trial proceedings, and before various federal agencies.

Jud’s cases in the U.S. Attorney’s Office included the prosecution of a multimillion dollar government-program fraud perpetrated against the U.S. Department of Education; the prosecution of a Ponzi scheme which defrauded commercial lenders of $25 million through a sham mental health services company; the convictions of individuals whose telemarketing scam defrauded hundreds of elderly victims of their life savings; and the convictions of co-conspirators in a nationwide criminal copyright infringement prosecution. Other cases involved health care, bank, insurance and computer fraud, identity theft, tax evasion, labor corruption, money laundering, narcotics offenses, and investigations of the La Cosa Nostra crime family, as well as Russian and Asian criminal organizations. Since 2000, Jud has been a Lecturer in Law at Temple University Law School, the nation’s top-rated scholastic trial advocacy program, teaching trial skills to law students and practicing attorneys alike.  Before becoming a lawyer, he was a professional jazz saxophonist.
