Our practice has included the representation of architects, engineers, project owners, and general contractors and subcontractors in a variety of trades. Our lawyers have prosecuted and defended complex litigation across a spectrum of industries including commercial and residential building, marine construction, pressure and other industrial vessel, and road construction.

Representative cases include the following:

• Conrad O’Brien lawyers have represented clients in cases involving the construction of prominent high-rise buildings in Philadelphia, the catastrophic failure of a wall in a well-known and historically significant Philadelphia building, and the construction of an interstate highway.
• Conrad O’Brien represented a major steel company in an over $80 million claim for defective construction of a coke oven. The case, which involved complex issues of construction law as well as complicated scientific and technical issues, was ultimately settled.
• Conrad O’Brien represented a major telecommunications equipment company in Superfund litigation and in construction claims arising from the design of a Superfund remediation project. We tried the case to a jury and won a verdict for our client.
• The firm represents a developer which was sued by the City of Philadelphia on a claim that it was obligated to use union labor on a $40 million apartment project in town. After we settled the case with the City our client was able to proceed with completing the project with non-union labor.
• A municipal transportation authority has retained the firm to represent it in a dispute arising out of a multi-million dollar construction project.
